Frequently Asked Questions

Q.  What is proper attire for REBarCamp?

A.  Clothing is preferred.  Be comfortable.  Be yourself.  If you want to take your shoes off – go right ahead!

Q.  Seriously, what should I wear?

A.  Jeans, t-shirt, flip flops – all OK.  If you still don’t know…look at some of the pictures from previous events.

Q.  What if I am late or have to leave early?

A.  No one cares.  You are free to come and go as you choose.

Q.  What is “The Law of 2 Feet”?

A.  That means if you are in a session and you think you might want to attend another one instead, use your 2 feet to go.  If you meet someone interesting and want to have a conversation, get up and go do it.

Q.  Will I be fed and hydrated?

A.  Maybe.  Maybe not.  Depends on how many sponsors we get.

Q.  What should I bring with me?

A.  Appropriate:  nothing, an iPad, a smartphone a pen & notebook.  Inappropriate:  your dog, tunafish, last night’s garlic on your breath.

Q.  Will there be events before and/or after REBCVA?

A.  Yes.  There are usually get-togethers/happy hours and we will keep you informed of these events.

Q.  What if I can only make it for an hour or 2?

A.  The knowledge you will gain from this event is well worth “not being available” for your traditional real estate activities.  But, if you absolutely need to do something else, that’s fine.  Just please, do not conduct business on  your cell phone while in a session…that is so very not-cool.

Q.  Who organizes and sponsors the event?

A.  REBarCamps are organized and planned by volunteers, most of whom have attended and/or organized RE BarCamps in the past.  Through the generosity of sponsors, we are able to keep the costs to attend free or minimal.

Q.  Why don’t I see a schedule of events/sessions?

A.  Because you are not at the event yet!  On the day of the event, we find out from the attendees what you want to learn/discuss and then we plan the sessions.  If you have something you specifically want to learn about, feel free to leave a comment on the site or email one of the volunteers.

Q.  Is someone going to try to sell me something at this thing?  What’s the “catch”?

A.  No.  Presenters and/or attendees are not permitted to push “their” product on you.  Passing out flyers for a business is frowned upon.  Attendees are individuals during REBC…we are all members of the real estate community.  That is why your name tag only has space for YOUR information, not that of your brokerage or company.

Q. What if I have a complaint?

A.  Feel free to let us know and we will be happy to give you a refund and let you organize the event next year ;-)
