21 Days to Improve Your Blogging Habits Book

Real Estate BarCamp Philadelphia is issuing a challenge to the Blogosphere – Get Blogging!

Popular wisdom tells us it take 21 days to create a habit. REBCPHL wants to help bloggers who might need a little help or encouragement by throwing out a challenge.  And if the help or encouragement you need is starting a blog, DO IT NOW.

Starting tomorrow, May 5th, 2009, write a post a day for the next 21 days. Each day, email us a link to your post at [email protected] with the subject line 21DIBH. That’s pretty much it. We like to keep things simple.

Entries will not be judged, we’re merely trying to help get you in the habit of writing. Don’t freak out about content or competition – the point is that you’re working to improve something that can improve your business. If you see value in that, please challenge yourself to play along!

We’re also not being picky about the type of content. If you have have a day that just wears you down and the idea of blogging feels like it’s going to send you over the edge, maybe it’s a photo blog day. (Best to keep that camera with you for emergencies like this. Snap a shot of that new business going in on the corner, the gorgeous flowers at the local farmer’s market or springtime on the golf course. It’s all good.) What we’re working on here is the habit of blogging itself.

There will be prizes awarded at REBCPHL but you do not need to be present to win. This means if you’re on the other side of the country (and Hello, Canada!) feel free to join in and play. We’re hoping you will!

We will occasionally share links to posts we especially like, so although we aren’t really judging you may feel free to try to wow us for potential link love. Maybe we’ll tweet them, throw them in Facebook or share them here. We’ll surprise you.

In summary:

  • Write a post a day from May 5 to May 26, 2009.
  • Send a link to your post each day to [email protected] with the subject line 21DIBH
  • You don’t have to be present at REBCPHL to win.
  • Realize on May 26th that you’re quite the blogger and pat yourself on the back.

We look forward to reading your blog!

Why haven't you RSVP'd yet?

I posted to my blog today noting that my email was down. Does that count? ;)

Derek, I’d give that to you, but I’m obviously the Paula Abdul of the judges. :)

Can I get a ruling from the Simon?

This is a great idea. I’ve got a few “real” posts I’ve been thinking about. I’ve thought enough, time to write!

Mr. Massey this is a contest to improve your blogging habits. WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU ARE ? You come on here and think that posting a post writing that your email is down would count as a post ? Did you add a picture of the screen and make sure the text wraps around it with a link embedded to your email account? Mr. Massey do you want to be a better blogger? How do YOU feel about this? What sort of an example would you like to be setting for people ? Just think on that.

Of course it counts, a post is a post. It’s all about the post :) heehee *HUGS*

Well now, this just might be the kick-in-the-butt that I’ve been needing. My blog is so neglected, poor thing. Maybe I’ll join in the fray and see what I can do. I like the idea of doing a photo post on those days when my mind just shuts down. Unfortunately, that’s a lot lately. But I shall give it a whirl – thanks for the motivation!

Wow! Every day, huh? I write about 3-4 times a week. I’m not sure I could take the pressure of every day! I guess I could try and see what happens…

I’m in! Does it count if I post to LoCoMusings one day, LoCoMarketStats the next, and one of the town stat sites another day? Or do I need to post to Musings each day? I need a ruling, here.. ;)

Heather, it can be to any blog – we just want to encourage the habit of daily blogging. We’re not all that picky about where or what. :)

    You can do it, Jennifer!!

Ann, photos help so much! They can be great inspiration for a post, too.

Is a great idea ! Nothing like a little practice and discipline to create those good habits ! Is good to feel that and be a part of some positive momentum.
