Pictures from “Camp” are Available on Facebook Fansite

We hope that you will go to our Facebook fansite for post event pictures and see what a great day it was! (there are two REBarCamp Silicon Valley fan sites..one works and one does not..oh! the things you learn in putting on a BarCamp!) Can anyone tell me how to delete a fansite?
Speaking of learning, Nanette from the Lynchberg REBarCamp did a great “what I learned from putting on a REBarCamp” post..check it out here. She makes excellent and RIGHT ON points. Putting together an event, any event, not only takes time and energy, but there are ALWAYS things that happen that are unplanned for and the good organizers can go with the flow and make changes along the way. At our event, we wanted to do a Community Builder near the end. However, the event took on a life of its own and some people preferred to stay up in the penthouse suite networking, while others wanted to spend some more time in the session rooms with the presenters. We scratched the last session and decided to go right into the networking reception so that our sponsor would have people there. The great thing about REBarCamps is that if people have smiles on their faces, its a pretty good indicator that you are doing a good job. We hope that you will give us your feedback from the event. We will post your comments here so that other people around the country can see what your experience was which can help them with their events or help them make a decision about attending or actually planning their own REBarCamp.
Last thoughts: I can tell the REBarCamp movement/experience is changing. People are seeing that the concept is a great one for teaching and learning in an open environment. Look for more companies to come out and create their own. Look for real estate associations to consider putting their own on so they have control of the presenters and the income. A year from now when we consider doing the 2nd Annual REBarCamp, the social media world will be, again, in a different, exciting place and people will want to learn about Google Wave, side wikis, and more. Stay tuned…the future is an exciting place!

We have reached our attendance limit, but we are more than happy to have anyone who wants to attend come and see if there is room the morning of the event. As with most REBarCamps, being there on time is VERY important. We will let people on the waiting list into the event at 9:15. If you have registered and are later than 9:15, you will be admitted if there is space available after the wait list people are accepted into the venue. This will ensure that if you REALLY want to come and experience REBarCamp Silicon Valley, that you are there when we begin promptly at 9:00 am.
Here are more tips to help you enjoy your day:
- All the volunteers will be wearing REBarCampSV badges so you know who to go to for questions.
- AXIS will be holding tours of the building during the lunch break and at 4:30 pm. They are holding a special contest for REALTORS who bring in clients within a month of the event!
- There is a BEVY of Tweeples Tweeting on Twitter about this event! Go to Twitter and put in #rebcsv in the search box (the box with a little Q next to it) Remember to use the number sign, which is a “hashtag” before rebcsv) If you need more help on this, make sure you attend the Twitter 101 session! Go here and start following your fellow Silicon Valley real estate professionals and other people coming in to present at the event. This is a GREAT way to get your feet wet on Twitter!

As we get closer to the REBarCamp, (only TWO weeks away!) we just wanted to make sure everyone was aware of a few details: We are almost full for one! If you have been on the fence about signing up, don’t wait until the last minute.
Lodging: The DeAnza Hotel is offering a very competitive room rate for anyone coming in from out of town. The hotel is right next door to Axis, click here for more info.
Parking: We will have A-Frames out near the street letting you know where to park. You will be parking FOR FREE at the Axis Condos and coming in to the building through the lobby.
Be On Time: The value in a REBarCamp is setting the sessions first thing in the morning. We need everyone to be there on time to help us do this. The sessions will be set by 9:30.
Another new sponsor! Thanks to the Evergreen East Valley Real Estate Marketing Group (EEVREMG) for joining as our latest co-sponsor! The EEVREMG meets every Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. at Megabyte Restaurant located at 5623 Silver Creek Valley Road, San Jose. What You Could Learn at REBarCamp SV–YOU Set the Session!
September 16, 2009 by Julie Ziemelis
REBarCamp is not a conference. Attendees actually decide what the sessions will be.
Facilitators will write the desired sessions on a big whiteboard, and then divide the sessions into tracks, so there is always 3-5 sessions going at one time. Here is one more very unique thing about REBarCamp. The sessions are NOT presentations, they are CONVERSATIONS. The experts in the room will often give a 15-20 minute talk on a subject to get the conversation going, and then open the room to question and answer. If you have a question or a statement, ask it. If you have an answer, offer it. If you have nothing to add to a conversation, REBarCamp is not for you. There are NO attendees at REBarCamp, only PARTICIPANTS.
Thanks to some amazing people attending the event, many of the topics below will be covered if you tell us you want to learn about them!
