We’ll be meeting at 8:oo AM in the Hyatt Regency Penn’s Landing lobby and will be grabbing breakfast either before or after the walk – feel free to join us and help decide. This will be a relaxed, casual walk with friends and cameras, and we may very well make it up as we go along.

The route will likely take us past:

The Liberty Bell, which was called the Independence Bell until 1837, when an anti-slavery group adopted it as a symbol of freedom based on the inscription, “Proclaim LIBERTY throughout all the Land unto all the inhabitants thereof.“

Independence Hall, where the Declaration of Independence was debated and adopted, and which originally housed the Liberty Bell.

The Benjamin Franklin Bridge

The Philadelphia Waterfront which includes Penn’s Landing, Philadelphia Vietnam Veteran’s Memorial and Independence Seaport Museum.

We expect to walk at least a couple miles, so be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Click here to view the REBCPHL map for more location details.

Tickets are required for Independence Hall, so please let us know if you plan to attend in the comments below.

The 21 Day Blogging challenge set forth in this post is officially on. While, admittedly, we didn’t give a lot of time to get ready to enter, we did have to make some tough decisions. The rules were easy: Send an email, every day with a link to your latest blog post for the next 21 days and hopefully using 21DBIH in the subject (the latter just makes it easier for the team). If you’re not on the list, does this mean you should stop? Of course not. Even the team, who are ineligible, are trying to improve by participating in the challenge. Any day can be DAY 1 of a habit. Why not today?

We did want to acknowledge all the entries that we did receive and give a little link love to boot. So here’s the entrants in no particular order:

Real Estate BarCamp Philadelphia is issuing a challenge to the Blogosphere – Get Blogging!

Popular wisdom tells us it take 21 days to create a habit. REBCPHL wants to help bloggers who might need a little help or encouragement by throwing out a challenge. And if the help or encouragement you need is starting a blog, DO IT NOW.

Starting tomorrow, May 5th, 2009, write a post a day for the next 21 days. Each day, email us a link to your post at REBCPHL@gmail.com with the subject line 21DIBH. That’s pretty much it. We like to keep things simple.

Entries will not be judged, we’re merely trying to help get you in the habit of writing. Don’t freak out about content or competition – the point is that you’re working to improve something that can improve your business. If you see value in that, please challenge yourself to play along!

We’re also not being picky about the type of content. If you have have a day that just wears you down and the idea of blogging feels like it’s going to send you over the edge, maybe it’s a photo blog day. (Best to keep that camera with you for emergencies like this. Snap a shot of that new business going in on the corner, the gorgeous flowers at the local farmer’s market or springtime on the golf course. It’s all good.) What we’re working on here is the habit of blogging itself.

There will be prizes awarded at REBCPHL but you do not need to be present to win. This means if you’re on the other side of the country (and Hello, Canada!) feel free to join in and play. We’re hoping you will!

We will occasionally share links to posts we especially like, so although we aren’t really judging you may feel free to try to wow us for potential link love. Maybe we’ll tweet them, throw them in Facebook or share them here. We’ll surprise you.

In summary:

Write a post a day from May 5 to May 26, 2009.

Send a link to your post each day to REBCPHL@gmail.com with the subject line 21DIBH

You don’t have to be present at REBCPHL to win.

Realize on May 26th that you’re quite the blogger and pat yourself on the back.

We look forward to reading your blog!

The RE Bar Camp train is making its way through the City of Brotherly Love on Wednesday, May 27.

Head over to the RSVP page now and sign up.

Oh, you need more information? What is an RE Bar Camp?

Well, here’s the definition from the main site.

RE Bar Camp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from attendees.

The basic premise is an adhoc, “unconference”. The agenda is set that day, which may seem strange at first, but it works. If you’ve never been to a Bar Camp before, you need to experience it. If you think you can pass on this event, you can’t. The information and networking involved in this setting is invaluable for your real estate career.

How can you go wrong? It’s FREE. Let me say that again, FREE. Though we definitely need sponsors.

You can also follow updates via our Twitter account REBCPHL.

We’ve also set up a group on Facebook, as well.

Not sure about Twitter and Facebook? What they are and how to use them? Then, what are you waiting for head over to the RSVP page and let us know your coming, NOW.

I’d like end this first post with the new theme song and video of RE BarCamp courtesy of Daniel Rothemal, the Real Estate Zebra.
