I Don’t Know Jack Squat About Social Media

Most real estate agents (generally) know very little about how to use social media tools like LinkedIn, Facebook, or Twitter to establish, gain or let alone engage their sphere of influence.

Adding a new tool to the bag can be intimidating and over whelming.

If this is how you are feeling you are in good company.

However, pretending these things are not there, or avoiding them is not going to make matters better or make them go away.

One thing for certain, social media is not going to go away and there may be more tools that are just around the corner.  In addition, many of our clients and prospects are going to be embracing them.

Many of us have experienced that buyers and sellers are more tech savvy today than in the past.  This can actually makes them better clients.  A tech savvy client does not have to see as many houses and is generally more educated about the market before even contacting an agent.

Many buyers and sellers think that an agent that is more tech savy is a better agent as well.

No one is suggesting that we should become experts in technology.  Going to a REBar Camp will not make you an expert.  However going to a REBar Camp will arm you with more questions.

Right now if you don’t know anything about technology, unfortunately this probably means you don’t know the right questions to ask either.  Not knowing the right questions to ask could be very costly in any given situation.  We all know knowledge is power.

For instance if  a buyer or seller is in a real estate transaction and doesn’t know the right questions to ask, than are they not at a disadvantage?  Same is true if you don’t know the right questions to ask about social media and technology.

Most people who go to a REBar Camp don’t know Jack Squat, that is why they go.  Some people who go to REBar Camp are already using these tools and a few are really good at it.  The best part about REBar Camp is those people that know the right questions to ask are willing to share them with those that do not, at no COST, this means FREE!

It is totally up to you whether you want to attend REBar Lynchburg.  However, REBar Lynchburg is going to come whether you attend or not.  Other people will be there learning and sharing.

Do yourself a favor get a little educated about what this movement really is before you shoot it down and decide it is not for you.  If after attending REBar Lynchburg, you decide that this is not for you, it will not be a loss because you will have taken something away.  If you do not attend you won’t know what you’re missing.
