Cool Things Learned from REBarCamp

Thank you to everyone that attended and helped make our first REBarCamp a success!  Here are a few cool apps or websites discussed at REBarCamp:

Evernote (App) – “Evernote is an easy-to-use, free app that helps you remember everything across all of the devices you use. Stay organized, save your ideas and improve productivity. Evernote lets you take notes, capture photos, create to-do lists, record voice reminders–and makes these notes completely searchable, whether you are at home, at work, or on the go.”  (

CardMunch (App) -Take a picture with the app and a business card is converted to a contact automatically. We’ll also show you LinkedIn profile information and connections you have in common.” (

Animoto (Website) –  “Turn your photos, video clips, and music into stunning video masterpieces to share with everyone. Fast, free, and shockingly easy! ” (

CloudOn (App):  “Provides users with a full PC version of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel on your mobile device.  Think of it as running a virtual Windows environment on your smartphone or tablet. ”

Google Goggles (App):  Lets you search for stuff just by snapping a photo of an item.  Point it at a book , street sign, etc. then Goggles will provide facts about it.  (

DropBox (App):  Saves files across your devices and with your frieds.  Easy way to back up in the cloud.  (

Meet the Facilitators

Nobu Hata (REALTOR®, e-PRO): An industry veteran since 1996, Nobu Hata is a marketing  professional, REALTOR®, instructor and consultant.  He speaks from experience researching, implementing and adapting various new-school techniques to his brick and mortar business; sharing his stories while demystifying new media, and empowering his peers.

In 2012, he became the Chairperson for NAR’s Young Professional Network.  Currently, he was recently hired as the National Association of REALTORS® Director of Digital Engagement.

Trudy Nishihara, REALTOR®, CIPS, CRB, CRS.  Trudy is a Senior Vice President at Coldwell Banker Pacific Properties.  She is responsible for recruiting and training new agents for the Leeward Oahu office and is also the Broker-in-Charge of the office.   Prior to that, she was the owner and principal broker for the Realty Group and

Trudy has also served as Chair of the Real Estate Commission and is the 2012 HAR First Vice-President.


Grant “Kapono” Kanoho, CRS.   Kapono is the principal broker of Watanabe International, Inc.  He is the current President of the Council of Residential Specialist, Hawaii Aloha Chapter. 

Also, he created the successful blog, which showcases neighborhoods
and everything there is to see and do in Hawaii.


Dale Bordner, CRB, CRS, GRI, SRES.  Dale is currently a senior partner and Broker-in-Charge at Island, REALTORS®.  Prior to that, she owned her own real estate company for 25 years.  Active in the real estate community, Dale has served as President of HICentral MLS, President of the Hawaii Chapter of CRB, and is the President-Elect of the Hawaii Association of REALTORS®.



Brooke Derby.  Having been in the industry for 11 years, Brooke brings to real estate her extensive background in Leasing, Property Management, Vacation Rentals, and Mortgage Finance. The latest training in technology, design and advertising inspire her creativity and innovation. She willingly shares her enthusiasm for real estate on the Big Island as a resident of the gorgeous Kohala Coast.
