WHAT IS A BARCAMP?

Don’t let the weird name intimidate you. RE BarCamp is a casual, open, interactive and fun way to learn about cutting edge real estate marketing ideas. That means no speakers, no classroom style learning, no one trying to sell you their products and best of all, no business attire!  Oh and did we mention that there is no charge to attend?  That’s right  – it’s totally free!

These events are loosely based on BarCamp.org principles.

BarCamp is an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos and interaction from participants.

What that means, is lots of great people sharing their ideas. You can come just to listen, or interact, or lead your own discussion.

WHAT KINDS OF TOPICS ARE COVERED AT AN RE BARCAMP?

Past events have covered everything from building blogs, to real estate digital photography and video tips, to using social networks like Twitter and Facebook.  Throughout the event you’ll have multiple sessions to choose from. Sessions may include dozens of people, or even just a few.  If you have an idea for a session, just volunteer to lead one.  RE BarCamps are all about the open exchange of ideas. Everyone is welcome, in fact is encouraged,  to contribute.  Come with an open mind and you’ll leave with some incredible knowledge.

WHO GOES TO AN REBARCAMP?

You!  (and some of the most knowledgeable, experienced and most fun social media people in the industry).  Space is going to fill fast so go RSVP right now and save yours!

And no, Mark Wahlberg and Burt Reynolds will not be there but we will be  taking over Boogie Nights at Resorts, Atlantic City!  Mark your calendars for Monday, December 6th (right before Triple Play starts), 4p until whenever……

Countdown to REBCAC

It’s almost here! RE BarCamp Atlantic City rolls into town this Monday – and it is shaping up to be a great event!  Here are a few last minute details you need to know:

GameOn is located in a section of Caesars Hotel and Resort known as The Pier At Caesars – find your way to Caesars  and follow the signs through the hotel and casino toward The Pier.  We will have some directional signs to point the way.   The space has free wifi and power – so bring your laptops, chargers and extra power strips if you have them.  Registration starts at 4 and there will be a light a light meal served.  So come early, register, grab some food and mingle until the event begins at 5.  Finally, since it’s not your typical conference or seminar, you can leave the business clothes at home!  Dress for rebarcamp is casual.

So, what exactly is going to happen at barcamp?  Well, in the spirit of the spontaneous, un-planned, un-structured  nature of a barcamp, we really don’t have a schedule for the evening – in fact, we won’t until that day.  What we can tell you is some the topics already being bandied about as sessions are: using Twitter to expand your local network and create local fans; optimizing your LinkedIn profile to attract more business; setting up and using Facebook business pages;  hyper-local blogging; Posterous; photo-blogging; ethics and social media; finding your social media voice; and the always popular..making whuffie.  Our closing session will be a fun group effort with some great give-aways so be sure to stay until the end!

Put your comfy clothes on, grab your laptop and a handful of business cards and be prepared to take your social media skills to the next level!    See you all on Monday at GameOn.

RE BarCamp Gets Lucky In Atlantic City!

That’s right folks – your luck has just changed!  For the first time ever, there will be an RE BarCamp prior to the start of the Realtors’ Triple Play Convention in Atlantic City.  Details are still in the works so for now, just plan on being in AC on Monday, December 7th from 4-1opm.  REBCAC is on it’s way!
